Comprehensive protection of metal structures - the key to longevity, safety and aesthetic perfection

Metal is one of the most durable and versatile materials in construction, industry and everyday use. But even the strongest metal is not immune to the ravages of time - if its surface is left unprotected, it can quickly become corrosion, wear and aesthetic damage.

With us in Metallmarju we are very aware of this. That's why we look at every metal structure holistically - not just in terms of how it is welded or fabricated, but also in terms of, how it is protected. A quality surface treatment is not just the icing on the cake - it's the a key factorwhich has an impact on durability, safety and appearance metal product.

What does metal surface treatment mean?

Surface treatment includes processes that:

  • protect the metal from external influences (moisture, UV light, chemicals),
  • improve corrosion resistance,
  • reduce wear and friction,
  • and achieve a better aesthetic effect (e.g. gloss, matt finish, colour application).

It is therefore a combination of protection and aesthetics - Both are important, especially for external elements such as fences, canopies, structures and metal accessories on buildings.

Why is this important?

Imagine you've invested in a new metal fence - beautiful, just the right amount of modern. Without a protective layer, it will start to show signs after just a few years. rust, darkened stains or even cracks in the material. This not only affects the appearance, but also the safety and durability of the product.

That's why we always stress:

Good treatment is not a cost - it's an investment in longevity.

The most common types of surface treatment

In the company Metallmar d.o.o. we use several proven processes, depending on the type of metal and its application:

🔹 Galvanising (hot dip galvanising)

Excellent for steel structures, as zinc creates a protective layer that prevents rusting. Ideal for outdoor elements.

🔸 Powder dyeing (comaxit)

Aesthetically sophisticated and highly durable finish - in a range of RAL colours. Suitable for aluminium, steel and inox. UV, abrasion and weather resistant.

Sanding and polishing inox

In inox, we do not use paints, but mechanically treat the surface - ground or polished for an even better look and extra protection against stains and snags.

A practical example

We recently built a canopy for a client in galvanised and powder-coated steel. After three years - without a single stain, no rust, no peeling paint. That's the power of good surface preparation and correct treatment.

How to choose the right treatment?

If you're not sure what you need, we'll be happy to advise you. It is important to note:

  • location (outdoor or indoor use),
  • type of metal,
  • the desired look,
  • and exposure to weather or wear.

Conclusion

Metal is long-lasting - if we allow it.
We therefore always advise you not to skimp on surface protection. A quality finish means:
✔️ longer lifetime,
✔️ less maintenance,
✔️ looks better long after installation.
